Merchant & Gould’s Women’s Initiative

Merchant & Gould is committed to providing its attorneys with a working atmosphere in which each attorney has the opportunity to succeed, advance within the firm, and develop a rewarding practice. The firm is also dedicated to providing excellent client service by recruiting and retaining the best and brightest attorneys. We recognize that an emphasis on diversity results in better client service, and affinity groups in law firms increase the retention of diverse lawyers.  

Merchant & Gould’s Women’s Initiative seeks to recruit, retain and advance outstanding woman attorneys by offering them the opportunity to work in a collegial, respectful, and flexible working environment.  Merchant & Gould’s Women’s Initiative provides access to professional and practice development and mentoring opportunities and affords all attorneys, including women, flexible work options and competitive parenting leave policies. The Women’s Initiative connects Merchant & Gould women attorneys in ways that strengthen their relationships with one another, the firm, our clients, and our community.  

In addition to supporting our woman attorneys within the firm, Merchant & Gould is committed to the advancement of women outside the firm. Our attorneys are involved in the MSBA Women in the Legal Profession committee, Minnesota Women Lawyers organization, Diversity in Practice, and other affinity organizations. We are a sponsor of multiple community outreach organizations including Go Red for Women, the American Heart Association’s campaign to reduce cardiovascular disease in women.
