Alp practices general intellectual property law with an emphasis on patent prosecution in the mechanical arts. His practice includes guiding clients through the patent process in bringing inventive concepts to granted patents both under U.S. patent law and foreign patent law. Specifically, Alp has extensive experience in performing patentability searching and analysis, preparation and prosecution of utility and design patent applications through the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, and post-grant procedures including Reissue practice. Alp also manages foreign law firms in prosecuting patent applications through foreign patent offices.

Alp also provides strategic intellectual property portfolio management for large, mid-size, and smaller clients, including market-driven patent prosecution and targeted claim drafting through continuation practice. Alp also counsels clients in intellectual property matters relating to product development and marketing including providing non-infringement and invalidity opinions. Alp provides pre-litigation counseling and patent enforcement strategy for clients.

Alp also has extensive experience in negotiating and drafting intellectual property contracts including exclusive and non-exclusive license arrangements, intellectual property assignments, non-disclosure agreements, and non-compete agreements.

Before practicing law, Alp was a process engineer for Solar Plastics, Inc., working with clients in the area of rotational molding.
