Jeffrey S. Ward is a partner in the Madison Office and is a member of the firm's litigation practice group. Mr. Ward has concentrated his practice on the representation of generic pharmaceutical companies, including Hatch-Waxman litigation, over the past 20 years. His practice focuses primarily in the area of patent litigation, opinion work, and client counseling. Mr. Ward has litigated patent disputes relating to the pharmaceutical, chemical and mechanical arts in federal courts throughout the United States and in the United States International Trade Commission.

Mr. Ward has represented several generic pharmaceutical companies and API manufacturers providing advice with respect to Abbreviated New Drug Applications (ANDA) submissions. Mr. Ward has also acted as lead counsel in several Hatch-Waxman litigations matters.

During his career, Mr. Ward has participated in many significant intellectual property law cases. He was a member of the team that argued Morton-International v. Cardinal Chemical, one of the few patent cases heard by the U.S. Supreme Court in recent years. During that case, the Supreme Court directed the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit to change the way in which it reviewed patent cases on appeal.
