Roger's practice mainly focuses on preparing on prosecuting patent applications in addition to patentability searches and opinions. He also provides support for litigation, including appeals, as well as infringement and validity opinions. His prosecution practice areas include the electrical and mechanical arts as well as software and business method patents. In conjunction with the Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation, Roger's pro bon efforts focusing on representing individual in housing disputes and creditor/debtor/consumer issues.

While in law school, Roger was a member of William Mitchell's Student Intellectual Property Law Association. Roger also was a Student Certified Attorney in Minnesota and represented pro bono clients in Housing Court and Bankruptcy Court. In addition, Roger was admitted under Georgia's Third Year Practice Act and interned with the Clayton County Solicitor General's Office where he arraigned over 150 defendants, sat first chair in seven misdemeanor trials, and successfully defended one motion to suppress in a DUI case.

Prior to joining Merchant & Gould, Roger was a Research Assistant at Georgia Tech. While at Georgia Tech he conducted research in Solid Oxide Fuel Cells and Chemical Vapor Deposition. In addition to research, Roger also taught courses in experimental engineering, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, thermodynamics, and thermal systems engineering. In his spare time Roger enjoys hiking, camping, cycling, aviation and is the holder of a private pilot's license.
