Steven Owens is an associate in the Knoxville office of Merchant & Gould. Steven practices Intellectual Property law with an emphasis on patent prosecution and intellectual property litigation.

With respect to his patent prosecution practice, Steven has drafted and prosecuted patent applications in the electrical, mechanical, medical device technology fields, including aircraft instrumentation, amusement park rides, animal training devices, communications systems, digital control systems, exercise equipment, medical devices, nuclear industry instrumentation and testing equipment, pet products, and robotics. In addition, Steven has analyzed and prepared opinions on patent and product clearance matters, non-infringement matters, and patentability matters.

Steven counsels clients, of all sizes, on their intellectual property rights and goals, including the licensing and management of intellectual property. He has advised and prepared confidentiality agreements to protect client's intellectual property rights. He has also negotiated and prepared licensing agreements with individuals, corporations, and technology transfer offices.

In addition, Steven has experience in a variety of intellectual property litigation, including patent, false marking, and trademark litigation. He also has experience in preparing pleadings, motions, and discovery.
