Brian is a partner in the Seattle office whose practice is focused on patent, trademark, and trade secret litigation. Brian, who is a registered patent attorney, has practiced in numerous United States District Courts throughout the country, and he has argued cases before the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. He has served as a court-appointed expert to address issues relating to claim interpretation, infringement, and validity. He has also been involved in interference and reexamination proceedings at the United States Patent and Trademark Office as well as trademark oppositions and concurrent use proceedings at the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board. He is a qualified Rule 39.1 mediator for intellectual property disputes in the United States District Court for the Western District of Washington.

Before entering private practice, Brian clerked for the Honorable Carolyn R. Dimmick, Chief Judge of the United States District Court for the Western District of Washington and for the Honorable Joseph F. Baca, Chief Justice of the New Mexico Supreme Court. In addition to his private practice, Brian is an adjunct Professor of Law at Seattle University School of Law, where he teaches Patent and Trade Secret Law. He served as President of the Washington State Patent Law Association and is currently the Chair Elect on the Executive Committee of the Intellectual Property Section of the Washington State Bar Association.
