MINNEAPOLIS, September 16, 2008 - Merchant & Gould, an intellectual property law firm, along with its client, Fabric Duct Systems, today announced they were successful in forcing a Chinese company to stop using Fabric Duct's trademarks, domain name, and business materials. Fabric Duct learned that a company in China had illegally copied Fabric Duct's web site, including its trademarks and marketing materials. In addition, the Chinese company had falsified business documents and official records of the State of Minnesota in an effort to claim a legal right to do business in China under the Fabric Duct name and Q-Sox® trademark.

"This was an especially egregious brand violation that included forged documents, falsified public records and a wholesale copying of Fabric Duct's business materials," said Tony Zeuli, lead counsel, Merchant & Gould. Merchant & Gould attorneys Tony Zeuli and Scott Oslick worked with lawyers in China to quickly register Fabric Duct's trademark in China and then use the trademark application to shut down the illegal web site. Zeuli and Oslick also contacted the Secretary of State's Office in Minnesota and the Minnesota Attorney General's Office seeking assistance with the false business records being used by the Chinese company.
