Merchant & Gould Welcomes New Attorneys in
Minneapolis, Madison and Denver


Minneapolis, October 20, 2011 - Merchant & Gould, a leading national IP law firm, today announced it has added two new attorneys to the Minneapolis office and that attorneys Wendy Ward and Greg Johnson rejoined the Madison and Denver offices, respectively

Loretta Lucas has joined the Minneapolis office. Lucas recently graduated from William Mitchell College of Law in 2011 and has a Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering from Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University. She worked at 3M Company for the past 11 years, including five years as a patent agent.

Nisha Patel, previously a law clerk at Merchant & Gould, has also joined the Minneapolis office. Patel graduated from the University of Minnesota Law School in May 2011 and holds a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering and computer science from the University of California, Berkeley.

Wendy Ward has rejoined Merchant & Gould as a partner in the Madison office. Her practice focuses on patent litigation with extensive experience counseling generic pharmaceutical companies on ANDA filings, including preparing non-infringement, invalidity and freedom-to-operate opinions and managing Hatch-Waxman litigation. In addition, Wendy has significant experience representing clients in a variety of other intellectual property evaluations such as due diligence investigations and patent validity, infringement and freedom-to-operate analyses. She most recently worked at Paddock Laboratories as the senior director of Intellectual Property.

Greg Johnson has returned to the Denver office where he worked from 2007 - 2009. Johnson received his J.D. from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law in 2006 and obtained a Bachelor of Science in computer science from Brigham Young University. Greg has prepared and prosecuted patent applications for a wide range of companies from start-ups to Fortune 100 companies. He has experience in a wide variety of technology areas including, computer architectures, software systems, semiconductors, gaming machines, mechanical devices, and handheld devices. He was most recently with the firm Mahamedi Paradice Kreisman LLP.
