Merchant & Gould Promotes Three Attorneys to Partner


MINNEAPOLIS, January 21, 2011 - Intellectual property law firm Merchant & Gould is pleased to announce that it has named Jeffrey S. Ward, William D. Schultz and George C. Lewis, P.E. as partners at the firm.

At the firm's Madison office, Jeffrey S. Ward concentrates on patent litigation relating to the pharmaceutical, chemical and mechanical arts. He has represented generic pharmaceutical companies for over 20 years. Mr. Ward has also acted as lead counsel in several Hatch-Waxman litigations matters. He earned his J.D. and undergraduate degree in chemical engineering from the University of Illinois.

At the firm's Minneapolis office, William D. Schultz focuses primarily on online trademark and copyright litigation. He has secured the return of hundreds of domain names to trademark owners, and assisted multiple clients on strategies relating to keyword advertising. Mr. Schultz earned his J.D. and undergraduate degree in business and marketing from Drake University.

At the firm's Denver office, George C. Lewis, P.E. practices in the areas of developing and implementing coordinated IP protection strategies for new products and services. He also practices copyright and trademark law for media and entertainment clients in the Rocky Mountain region. Mr. Lewis earned his J.D. from the University of Denver and holds degrees in electrical engineering from Cornell University, and chemical engineering from the University of Colorado.
