Education Carleton College Bar Admissions Minnesota State Bar, 1996 Professional Affiliations American Bar Association A Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Mark practices Intellectual Property law assisting entrepreneurs and inventors in differentiating and safeguarding products and technology, particularly in chemistry and biotechnology. Mark defined the market for an entrepreneur's paradigm-shifting biotechnology as $100 million per year, which facilitated multi-million dollar investments by angel investors. Mark develops and manages patent portfolios, develops business strategies, and conducts infringement/validity studies. He has extensive experience with portfolios relating to antimicrobial and disinfectant products, fermentation processes, bio and conventional pharmaceuticals, conventional and recombinant plants, biotechnology, cleaning products, polymeric continence control devices, medical devices, and power tools. Before becoming a patent attorney, Mark spent a decade as a researcher and research manager in the pharmaceutical industry. His research experience includes design, discovery, and evaluation of enzyme inhibitors as therapies for inflammatory, autoimmune, and viral diseases. This research provided him with hands-on experience and an in-depth knowledge of biochemistry, pharmacology, protein chemistry, and organic chemistry. Mark regularly speaks at local and national IP meetings on chemical and biotechnological patent practice. Mark's practice areas include patent protection in biotechnology, chemical, and pharmaceutical arts. |
