Erik is a shareholder in the firm and Chair of the Electrical and Software Practice Group. Erik's practice emphasizes devising intellectual property strategies that are focused on a client's business needs. He is skilled in developing and managing patent portfolios; developing business strategies; rendering opinions on infringement and validity; licensing; pre-suit investigation and due diligence; and conflict resolution, including litigation, arbitration, and mediation. He has extensive experience in the electrical, software, and mechanical technologies. Attending MIT, Erik was a research assistant in MIT's Intelligent Engineering Systems Laboratory and developed a knowledge-based expert system for scheduling and cost estimating commercial construction projects. As an MIS manager, Erik researched, developed, and implemented software and hardware systems including cost control systems, document control systems, scheduling software, and general management tools. As a senior project engineer, he designed and implemented custom computer controlled building operating systems, building mechanical systems, water distribution systems, electrical distribution systems, and fire systems.
