William Mitchell College of Law J.D., cum laude, 1996 Bar Admissions Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals First Circuit Court of Appeals Federal Circuit Court of Appeals Christopher Sorenson is a trial attorney, with substantial practice experience in intellectual property litigation, focusing primarily on patent infringement actions. During his eleven years of practice, he has tried cases to verdict in both federal and state courts, as well as in several contested arbitration hearings involving disputes over commercial contracts.
In the past seven years, Mr. Sorenson has represented patent holders and accused infringers in patent disputes involving internet method patents, precision fluid pumps, injection molded polycarbonate sunglass lenses, pharmaceutical compositions, electronic fuel injected two-stroke engines, air restriction indicators, load weighing software for surface mining machines, and dog toys. In recent years, Mr. Sorenson has focused his practice on ANDA litigation, which involves patent disputes over various prescription drugs and the efforts of generic manufacturers to come to the market under the provisions of the Hatch-Waxman Act.
Prior to centering his practice on intellectual property litigation, Mr. Sorenson's practice was focused on fire litigation, which included complex product liability issues, construction litigation, and insurance coverage matters.
Mr. Sorenson is admitted to practice before the Eighth, Seventh, First, and Federal Circuit Courts of appeal, and has been honored as a "Rising Star" in Minnesota Law & Politics for five consecutive years. He is a member of the American, Minnesota State, and Hennepin County Bar Associations, as well as a American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA).
Mr. Sorenson received his J.D., Cum Laude in 1996 from William Mitchell College of Law, and a B.A. with honors from Macalester College in 1993. Mr. Sorenson has twice completed the advanced trial skills courses presented by the National Institute of Trial Advocacy in 1997 and again in 2003.
In 2007, Mr. Sorenson successfully completed the Leadership Impacting the NonProfit Community program, a specialized training program offered by the Hennepin County Bar Association to train attorneys for participation and leadership roles on non-profit boards. Mr. Sorenson currently sits on the board of directors of the Northfield Area Family YMCA.
Mr. Sorenson is the proud father of four beautiful children, considers himself an avid (but relatively unsuccessful) fisherman, and was the 1989 intramural darts champion at Montana State University in Bozeman, Montana, where he began his undergraduate studies. |
