He has authored numerous articles relating to intellectual property and electrical engineering, as well as patentability assessments and infringement opinions.
Before practicing law, Carl was Senior EMC Engineer at Intermec Technologies Corporation where he was in charge of the company's EMC compliance, setting up test labs, test procedures, design procedures, educating design and test engineers. In the same period, he participated in government (e.g. FCC) as well as private industry group standardization and regulatory rulemaking processes in the US as well as in other countries (Japan, China, EU, Brazil, etc.). He has a comprehensive knowledge of: designing, testing, and manufacturing of electronic circuits; wired and wireless network products; is fluent in multiple computer languages; has a working knowledge of multiple foreign languages; and is an inventor in one issued patent with four additional patents pending.
