Marianne practices intellectual property law with an emphasis on patent prosecution and client counseling. She has also performed trademark and copyright prosecution. Marianne helps clients in the biotechnological, chemical, and pharmaceutical field meet business objectives. Her practice encompasses intellectual property portfolio management, worldwide patent procurement, patentability analysis, product clearance, validity analysis, and infringement analysis. Marianne has prepared and prosecuted patent applications related to assaying techniques, recombinant proteins/peptides, antibodies, gene therapy vectors, pharmaceutical compounds, polymeric fine fibers, nanotechnology, food technology, mechanical systems, semiconductors, computer software, computer hardware, graphic terrain displays, satellite communication, antennas, and antenna communication.

Marianne has broad experience in the fields of genetics and nanotechnology. She has performed genetic research to determine the cause of cleft palate in humans, during which she found an unknown synonymous mutation in the human gene Jagged 2. Marianne has also worked on several different congressional grants relating to gene and nanotechnology patent research and analysis (e.g., Complex Genetic Disorders and Intellectual Property Rights and NER: Nanotechnology and Intellectual Property). Further, she has published intellectual property articles relating to the fields of genetics and nanotechnology.
