ChIPs Colorado Chapter Inaugural Event

Please join us to celebrate the establishment of the ChIPs Colorado Chapter on Thursday, April 20 from 12-1:30 p.m. at the USPTO Denver office. The festivities will include a reception, lunch, and a speaker panel discussing the advancement of women in STEM.

12:00-12:30 p.m. – Reception
12:30-12:40 p.m. – Welcome and Introduction to ChIPs
12:40-1:20 p.m. – “Pay it Forward: How You Can Help Build the Pipeline for Women in STEM”
1:20-1:30 p.m. – Q&A

Panelists

Dr. Violeta García is a leader in STEM in Colorado, and across the nation. She has created numerous programs that serve students directly or that build capacity for educators to create fun, engaging, educational learning opportunities. She is a graduate of California State University-Fullerton, UCLA, and the University of Northern Colorado.

Patty Lopez is a senior engineer for Intel in Fort Collins, Colorado, and a passionate supporter of women in STEM programs. She has volunteered her time to Anita Borg, the National Center for Women in Information Technology, and mentoring programs at her alma mater, New Mexico State University.

Melissa Risteff is Co-Founder & CEO of Couragion. Couragion provides a fun and engaging application that exposes students to STEM careers using videos, games, and self-reflection quizzes. With Couragion, students can explore STEM careers and discover the type of career options that best align with their values, interests, and desired work characteristics.
