Two attorneys from Merchant and Gould's Minneapolis office will be seminar panelists at the 2015 Midwest Intellectual Property Institute taking place September 17 and 18 at the Minnesota CLE Conference Center in Minneapolis. The event is attracting renowned IP experts from across the nation for two days of panels and discussions regarding the latest trends in intellectual property law.

Thursday afternoon will include a panel on the topic of the "Impact of the Supreme Court’s B&B Hardware Decision on TTAB Practice and Practitioners." That panel will be moderated by Merchant and Gould partner Scott W. Johnston, who specializes in trademark litigation and brand enforcement. Other participants in the panel include Chief Judge of the TTAB, Chief Judge Rogers and John Welch, attorney with Wolf, Greenfield & Sacks and author of the TTABlog.

Merchant and Gould partner and diversity committee chair Heather J. Kliebenstein will participate on a panel Friday afternoon discussing "Tackling Bias and Promoting Diversity in the Legal Profession." Heather's work on this topic internally at Merchant and Gould gives her a unique perspective on promoting diversity within the world of law. That discussion will be led by the Honorable Peter M. Reyes, Jr., a Minnesota Court of Appeals Judge and former senior intellectual property counsel with both in-house and private practice experience.
