A group of Merchant & Gould professionals took home the first-place prize for the fastest team in the 2016 Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon 5K Corporate Team Challenge. 

In Minnesota, the Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon race series brings 25,000 runners and 300,000 spectators to the metro over the fall race weekend. The precursors to the Sunday marathon are the TC 5K and TC 10K, held the day before. Twin Cities in Motion, the race organizer, hosts a Corporate Team Challenge (“CTC”) to encourage businesses to assemble a team of employee runners to compete for the fastest team and largest team awards in the races.

Last year, the Merchant & Gould team (open to any employee in the firm) came in second place in the 5K CTC. This year’s Merchant & Gould 5K team clocked in at 1:42:33, edging out Braun Intertec (the 2015 first-place team) by 14 seconds and besting 43 other CTC teams. The winning team is determined by the lowest cumulative total of the five fastest runners, which must include a female and masters (age 40 or older) runner.
