Intellectual property law firm Merchant & Gould announced that George G. Matava has joined the firm as a partner in its Denver office. Matava recently served as the co-chair of the National Intellectual Property Litigation Group at Greenberg Traurig and was previously a leader of intellectual property and litigation practices at major Colorado firms. His mediation practice covers all fields of intellectual property law, including patent, trademark, copyright, and antitrust and contract claims.

Matava has twenty years of extensive intellectual property litigation experience and has litigated or tried patent cases in automotive products, biomedical devices, computer hardware and software, telecommunications, cable and satellite television, and biodegradable plastics, among others. He has also played a leading role as an advocate in approximately seventy mediations and settlement conferences.
Matava received his J.D. from the Wake Forest University School of Law and his B.S. from Trinity College.
