Merchant & Gould, an intellectual property law firm, announced that Brian Bodine, Dan McDonald and Richard Siefert have been named top intellectual property attorneys by Chambers USA, an international publisher of legal resources.
Brian Bodine, whom peers noted to Chambers as having "a better substantive knowledge of the area than many other attorneys in the state's IP community," focuses on patent, trademark, and trade secret litigation. He has practiced in numerous United States District Courts throughout the country, and has served as a court-appointed expert to address issues relating to claim interpretation, infringement, and validity. He has also argued cases before the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. He teaches Patent and Trade Secret Law at Seattle University School of Law. Brian has been selected by Chambers USA as an outstanding IP attorney for the past four years. This year, Chambers calls to attention "his down-to-earth approach and his genuine concern about the issues."
Chambers also offered praise for Dan McDonald, a partner in Merchant & Gould's Minneapolis office by recognizing him as one of Minnesota's leading IP litigators. Dan focuses on patent and copyright litigation, trademark/trade dress litigation and trade secret litigation with an emphasis on electronics, software and Internet issues. McDonald's successes for clients have included trial wins, expedited relief and multi-million dollar awards. He has represented clients ranging from individual inventors to the British Post Office, in cases involving a broad spectrum of technologies. McDonald has been selected as a leading IP litigator by Chambers USA for the past three years. This year, Chambers highlighted Dan's active practice and noted that his clients characterize him as "immediately responsive."
Chambers also offered high praise for Richard Siefert's developing practice in the IP area. Siefert, who is a partner in Merchant & Gould's Seattle office, specializes in complex litigation with a focus on intellectual property and antitrust cases. He is experienced in mediation and arbitration as alternatives to trial. Siefert has consistently been recognized as a leading litigator in Washington, and has been listed by Chambers USA in its intellectual property section for the past four years. This year, Chambers notes that Siefert is both "thoughtful and adept."
