Carl Turk joins Merchant & Gould in Seattle office

Intellectual property law firm Merchant & Gould PC announced that Carl K. Turk has joined the firm as an associate in its Seattle office.

Mr. Turk's practice is devoted to the procurement and protection of intellectual property rights with a focus in high-technology areas such as analog and digital electronics (both discrete and integrated circuits), RF/EMI/EMC engineering, network communications, software, database structures, internet related technologies, computer security, electromechanical systems, mechanical systems and medical devices. He has authored numerous articles relating to intellectual property and electrical engineering, as well as patentability assessments and infringement opinions.

Before practicing law, Mr. Turk was Senior EMC Engineer at Intermec Technologies Corporation where he interacted with regulatory agencies and foreign governments to minimize the impact of regulations on the company. At Intermec, Carl also set up laboratories, and oversaw worldwide compliance and certification of over 75 products. He has a comprehensive knowledge of: designing, testing, and manufacturing of electronic circuits; wired and wireless network products; is fluent in multiple computer languages; has a working knowledge of multiple foreign languages; and is an inventor in one issued patent with four additional patents pending.

Mr. Turk graduated from the Seattle University School of Law. He holds a M.S.E.E. in Electromagnetics from Michigan Tech University and a B.S.E.E. in Electronic Engineering from Istanbul Technical University.
