Merchant & Gould, a national intellectual property law firm with offices in eight cities including Denver, is pleased to announce that Law Week Colorado included Kathleen Ott on its list of Top Woman Lawyers 2015.
Ott’s love of science led her to the field of intellectual property. At Merchant and Gould, she currently drafts and prosecutes patent applications in a variety of technology areas for some of the biggest names in the software and medical device industries, such as Microsoft, Medtronic and Covidien. In addition, her work on smaller clients has led directly to their successful acquisitions by larger companies.
“Kathleen is a go-to person in the firm for colleagues and clients alike," said Tim Scull. “She possesses a rare combination of intelligence, passion, and maturity that makes her invaluable to her clients and the firm.”
Ott’s dedication to pro bono work and the community is striking. As a former teacher, she is passionate about increasing the pipeline of women and minorities in both the sciences and the intellectual property area of the law. She serves as a Board Member for the IP Section of the Colorado Bar Association and on the Steering Committee for ProBoPat, a pro bono initiative and partnership between the U.S. Patent Office, Mi Casa Resource Center and the Colorado Bar Association. Ms. Ott also volunteers with many legal and direct service organizations.
