The U.S. News – Best Lawyers Best Law Firms rankings are based on a rigorous evaluation process that includes the collection of client and lawyer evaluations, peer review from leading attorneys in their field, and review of additional information provided by law firms as part of the formal submission process. Best Lawyers "employs a sophisticated, conscientious, rational, and transparent survey process designed to elicit meaningful and substantive evaluations of the quality of legal services." The methodology is designed to seek the opinion of  lawyers about the professional abilities of their colleagues in the same legal practice area and geographical region. Once these survey results are received, Best Lawyers staff reviews the votes and comments. Additionally, nominated lawyers are "checked against state bar association sanction lists to make sure they are in good standing with the ethics committee of their state bar."

This is the 6th edition of the Best Law Firms publication, which has over 32,000 print subscribers and 100,000 digital subscribers in more than 30 countries. This will be published on December 1, 2015, and may be viewed online at bestlawfirms.usnews.com on November 2, 2015. The full list of Tier 1 nationally ranked firms will also appear in the 2016 edition of The Legal Issue, published by U.S News & World Report in partnership with Best Lawyers.
