Merchant & Gould Hires Life Sciences Ph.D. as Partner in D.C. Office

Merchant & Gould is pleased to announce that Alireza Behrooz, Ph.D., has joined the firm’s Washington, D.C. office as a partner in its Chemical & Life Sciences group.

Behrooz, a registered patent attorney with a background in molecular biology, holds two advanced degrees in biological sciences and performed cellular and molecular biology research for several years in his doctoral and post-doctoral programs.

In addition to his extensive biotechnology background, Behrooz brings more than a decade of experience in intellectual property law to the group.  He prepared and prosecuted patent applications in biotechnology and life sciences at Womble Carlyle Sandridge & Rice, PLLC in Washington, D.C.  While at Womble, Behrooz also prepared patents and appeal briefs related to chemicals, floor coverings, biomedical apparatus, prosthesis, and green technology fields.  Additional industries Behrooz has experience in include agriculture/crop science industry, medical devices, oral and personal care products, and animal health & nutrition.
