Cynthia (Cindy) M. Lehmuth is an International Legal Specialist for Merchant & Gould. Her responsibility is to serve as a liaison between our attorneys and foreign clients to ensure the highest level of legal support and care.
In her daily work, Cindy helps our attorneys prepare documentation for all stages of prosecution for patent applications, both foreign and domestic. This includes the careful preparation of information disclosure statements (IDS) to move the patent prosecution process forward.
Cindy also prepares opening matter documents, proforma documents and provides support for invoicing. She ensures dockets are covered each day and dedicates herself to meeting or exceeding every deadline. In her role, she supports several of our attorneys that are spread across the US.
Serving With Over 27 Years of Patent Experience
Cindy began her journey into law right after high school, where she worked as a legal secretary for a top Chicago law firm. She became the assistant to a legal partner after just one month of working in the firm.
Cindy received her first taste of the world of patent law in 1995, where she became a legal patent secretary assigned to the recognized partner of the firm. Discovering her love for patent law, her career took her to Fish & Richardson in New York in 1996, where she spent her time preparing trademark and patent applications.
In her latest role before joining Merchant & Gould, Cindy worked to obtain the required documentation for both domestic and international patent applications. She also reviewed daily dockets, drafted legal correspondence and obtained estimates for validating European patent applications.
Now, Cindy uses her breadth of experience in patent law to support our worldwide team. She has also written a patent that was allowed by the USPTO.
Putting the Client First, Always.
Cindy knows that legal matters can’t and shouldn’t wait. That’s why she prides herself on being timely when it comes to communication and efficient when it comes to getting work done. She puts each client in every case first, ensuring our attorneys and legal associates have what they need to best support them.
Cindy also believes there’s no “I” in team. Every day, she shows up, works hard, and does her critical part for the betterment of our firm and our clients.
In her spare time, Cindy enjoys spending time in the yard, traveling, attending soccer matches and going to concerts. She also runs three miles before work and longer mileage on the weekends.
