Dana is an attorney in Merchant and Gould’s Denver office. Dana provides practical solutions to a wide array of intellectual property matters. Her practice ranges from advising entrepreneurs in small transactions to counseling Fortune 100 companies in high-stakes litigation.

Dana specializes in developing sound intellectual property portfolio management strategies, with particular focus on leveraging the value and protection of trademarks and copyrights.   Her experience also extends to brand management—by working with various small to medium businesses from the ground up, Dana ensures that these emerging growth companies avoid the pitfalls of intellectual property law and realize their full potential. Dana brings tremendous value to these organizations by securing and enforcing trademarks and copyrights in the fields of apparel, biomedical devices, retail accessories, and pet products.

Dana’s advice is informed by her extensive background in patent prosecution—both domestic and foreign—in the electrical, mechanical, and biomedical fields. She has a wealth of experience drafting patent applications and responding to office actions as well as drafting and filing appeals. Dana is also especially skilled in defensive and offensive analysis of a clients’ and a clients’ competitor’s products alike. She has authored many memoranda and opinions succinctly summarizing this analysis. Dana has successfully litigated numerous cases at the District Court, Appellate Court, and Federal Circuit levels. As a result of the breadth and depth of her intellectual property experience, Dana brings a 360 degree perspective to each client she advises.

In her spare time, Dana enjoys running with her Labrador/Golden Retriever, Kona, and cheering Syracuse basketball on to an inevitable second national championship.
