Focused on Clear Communication & Flexible, Client-Centered Service
Lauren has over five years of experience as a patent agent. During that time, she prepared and prosecuted patent applications in a wide variety of technical areas with a focus in computer-related technologies. While her career as a patent agent was fulfilling, she craved the opportunity to have more direct communication and interaction with clients, which prompted her to become a patent attorney.
As a result, Lauren’s approach is centered on clear communication and encouragement of strong inventor involvement from start to finish throughout the patent process. Understanding that there’s no “one-size-fits-all” approach to patent law, Lauren strives to be flexible and accommodating for her clients. She is happy to make a meeting happen when it works best and to be as collaborative as needed throughout the patent process.
From Lab to Law: Lauren’s Hands-On Approach to Patent Prosecution
Getting her start in science, Lauren studied chemistry with an emphasis in biochemistry. Following graduation, she found herself working at a microbiology lab where she quickly discovered she wanted to do more to engage with others in her community.
Shifting from lab work to coordinating a research study, Lauren used her organization and communication skills to produce and maintain compliant study records as well as establish relationships with clinicians and study participants alike to ensure the success of the study. This experience enabling simultaneous application of her science background and community engagement provided a stepping stone that launched her into patent law, where she focuses her time today.
As a patent attorney, Lauren provides a hands-on approach to the patent process, ensuring individual inventors and businesses have everything they need to succeed. On the front lines, she uses her background in science to manage, strategize and fulfill patent applications and prosecution for the electrical and software industries.
In her spare time, Lauren enjoys teaming up with her husband to support local football, hockey, and baseball teams, attend community farmer’s markets and performance events, and check out the local breweries in and around Knoxville. Basically, she loves to take in all the wonderful things Tennessee has to offer.
