Roshni is an intellectual property attorney in Merchant & Gould’s Minneapolis office. She has experience in a variety of intellectual property matters, including contract agreements, patent prosecution, and post-grant proceedings, and she works with clients in a range of technology areas. 

Roshni specializes in contract matters, including technology transfer, development, material transfer, confidentiality, consulting/independent contractor, and supplier agreements, with an emphasis on patent licensing agreements. She works closely with her clients and counterparties to develop a variety of agreements suitable for each client’s objectives.

Another area of focus in Roshni's practice is patent preparation and prosecution. Her patent work centers on technology areas related to electrical, software, semiconductors, medical devices, and mechanical technologies. She also helps develop patent strategies for her clients’ domestic and international patent portfolios. Roshni assists clients in reviewing their patent portfolios to identify competitive value, validity, and enforceability positions.

In addition, Roshni has extensive experience counseling clients with freedom to operate opinions, due diligence matters, and patentability assessments. She enjoys advising clients on complex issues and guiding her clients to a successful outcome.

Prior to joining Merchant & Gould, Roshni worked for Rockwell Collins, Inc., where she focused on digital electrical hardware design for military GPS communication systems and systems engineering for satellite communication systems. She also worked at John Deere & Company in the power engine systems electronics group.

At Merchant & Gould, Roshni is co-chair of the Trade Secret Practice Group and chair of the Women’s Initiative Group. She is also actively involved in the South Asian Bar Association, Minnesota Asian Pacific American Bar Association, Twin Cities Diversity in Practice, and Minnesota IP Law Association. Roshni enjoys doing pro bono work for non-profit organizations such as the Children’s Law Center of Minnesota and the Advocates for Human Rights. 

In her free time, Roshni enjoys endurance racing, cooking, and traveling.
