Merchant & Gould is pleased to announce that Michael (Mike) T. Lukon rejoined the firm on Aug. 3, in an advisory role of counsel.  With more than 20 years of experience as an IP attorney, which includes time in the firm’s Atlanta office in the early 2000s and more-recent independent counseling with the firm, his patent and trademark practice covers a wide range of commercial sectors.

Mike offers broad experience across the spectrum of intellectual property, including work in the electrical, computer and mechanical industries. His technical areas of experience include smart devices, sensors, medical devices, network infrastructure, radar and laser applications, aerospace and materials, optics and cellular technologies.

Mike combines his IP experience with his engineering background, especially focused on technical inventions.  His previous knowledge enables him to draft patent and trademark applications that are uniquely complex. He also assists with the redesign process and provides patentability and trademark searching to determine whether a product/process may be patented or trademarked.

“Mike is an excellent addition as we continue to expand our capabilities in Knoxville and across the firm,” said Christopher J. Leonard, CEO and Managing Director, Merchant & Gould.  “We value his high-quality legal work, technical experience and analytical approach.”

“It’s great to have Mike back with Merchant & Gould.  His experience will deepen the expertise of our Knoxville team and boost the firm’s growth here and across Tennessee,” added John Winemiller, the managing partner of Merchant & Gould’s Knoxville office.
