Merchant & Gould was proud to attend its client’s namesake event, True Value Charity Classic – attending activities, helping raise money for the True Value Foundation, matching a donation, and presenting a check to the scholarship winner. The annual event took place on May 30, at a mix of recreational venues in the Chicago area, bringing together True Value’s suppliers and partners for fundraising and helping disadvantaged kids succeed.
Proceeds from the Charity Classic benefit the True Value Foundation, focused on underserved youth and improving the lives of children, with an emphasis on education and community vitality. Funds raised and donated products and services support the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, Painting a Brighter Future and Habitat for Humanity.
Chris Leonard, managing director, CEO, and Chairman of the Board, and Chris Schulte, partner and chair of the Trademark Practice Group, attended the event. In fact, Schulte attended for the 20th consecutive year and connected Merchant & Gould to the Charity Classic in 2006.
Merchant & Gould is spreading its community spirit through a $5,000 matching donation and check presentation by Leonard to scholarship winner Jocelynn Juarez, a high school senior who is a member of the Chicago True Value Boys & Girls Club in “Little Village” – selected from a group of club members for her community leadership and speaking ability. While Merchant & Gould has been involved with the event for many years, this is the first time the firm presented a check -- an honor and testament to a long-term, consistent partnership with True Value’s legal department.
“Merchant & Gould is grateful to be part of an event that is aligned with our core values and that directly helps children through scholarships. We are all so inspired by True Value’s commitment to the community through its foundation and this annual event and golf tournament,” said Leonard. “The overwhelming enthusiasm and participation show that this event is a win-win for the entire community!”
