Kent advises clients on all aspects of Intellectual Property law, including the establishment, procurement, management, and development of their domestic and international IP strategy and portfolios. His practice involves domestic and international IP management counseling, validity and infringement opinions, patent procurement and prosecution, due diligence investigations, IP assessment and valuation, licensing, patentability, and use-clearance searching.
Kent concentrates his practice in the areas of computer software, electronics, broadband transmission networks, cable television, electric utilities, smart grid, telecommunications, agricultural equipment, and business methods.
Prior to entering law school, Kent worked in the electric utility industry, holding various engineering and engineering management positions. He has been a registered professional engineer in the state of Georgia since 1990.
At Merchant & Gould, Kent is a member of the firm's electronics and computer law practice group, and on the Technology committee.
