Congratulations to Ericka Brundage, Merchant &amp; Gould’s legal assistant support manager who received the Susan L. French (SLF) Program’s Emerging Leaders Fellowship. Ericka was selected for her commitment to servant leadership in the legal management profession, persistence in the face of resistance, strong people-building skills, and the way she inspires others in the workplace.

Committed to collaboration and service, Ericka supervises the 􀏐firm’s prosecution support team for all seven of􀏐ices, ensuring they have what they need to do the same for our attorneys. In her day-to-day, Ericka works to ensure procedures and processes are consistent, assistants are supported, and workflows progress smoothly throughout the firm. She keeps business moving forward.

The fellowship program was developed to assist up to two Association of Legal Administrators (ALA) members annually who have a strong desire to enhance their personal and professional leadership skills. The first year of this two-year fellowship program provides a registration to ALA’s Chapter Leadership Institute (CLI); a personalized series of leadership-focused coaching sessions with a distinguished leadership consultant; as well as other leadership mentoring and course curriculum. In the second year, participants are expected to contribute to the development of the fellowship and assume a mentor role for the next cohort.

At CLI, Ericka met with other SLF program and Foundation of ALA Board members and learned of Susan French’s infectious spirit, personability, and reliability. Those qualities describe exactly the type of leader Ericka aspires to be.

“Susan always had time for people and made them feel seen and heard; and I want to do that better. Through this Fellowship, I will sharpen my leadership skills and do the work to become a more inclusive leader, helping others be the best versions of themselves,” said Ericka.
