Merchant & Gould is pleased to announce that Rachel Scobie has been named a 2025 Women in Business by Minneapolis St. Paul Business Journal. The award recognizes top Twin Cities leaders for their professional success and community involvement.
Rachel began her legal career at Merchant & Gould in 2002, working as an associate from 2002-2008 and promoted to partner in 2009. She has held various leadership roles at the firm, serving as a member of the Diversity Committee, Technology Committee, and Chair of the Recruiting Committee. Most recently, Rachel was appointed Chair of the firm’s Litigation Practice Group in 2022. During her time as chair, the group has increased from 25 to 35 lawyers, driving significant revenue growth.
Rachel currently serves on the Board of Directors of The Fund for Legal Aid where she volunteers on the Board’s nominating committee. She is an active member of the The Minnesota Chapter of the Federal Bar Association.
“Rachel could not be more deserving of this award,” Heather Kliebenstein, Merchant & Gould Managing Partner said. “As a longtime member of our team, I’ve watched her rise from associate to one of our top litigators and partner. Her commitment to mentoring and training the next generation of trial lawyers is shown by her efforts to ensure every member of her teams has a seat and voice at the table.”
Rachel and her fellow honorees will be featured in the May 16 Women in Business publication and honored at a high-profile luncheon and expo that same day at the Renaissance Minneapolis Hotel, The Depot.
