Karen Whitehouse is a patent paralegal in Merchant & Gould’s Boston office with more than 30 years of experience supporting clients in the development, management, and protection of their innovation portfolios. She works closely with attorneys, inventors, corporate legal departments, and foreign associates to help ensure the efficient handling of patent matters throughout the prosecution process.
Karen has extensive experience preparing and filing U.S. and international patent applications, including matters before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and under the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT). Her work includes managing patent prosecution workflows, coordinating domestic and foreign filings, monitoring critical deadlines, preparing Information Disclosure Statements, and maintaining accurate patent records and reporting.
Throughout her career, Karen has supported a broad range of patent portfolios, providing reliable day-to-day management of complex intellectual property assets. She is known for her attention to detail, organizational skills, and responsive client service. In addition to her prosecution experience, she has trained and mentored new paralegals and has played a key role in maintaining efficient patent administration processes.
