Marina prepares and prosecutes patent applications in the fields of biotechnology and pharmaceuticals worldwide.&nbsp; She counsels clients on intellectual property strategy and conducts patentability, freedom-to-operate, and due diligence analyses. &nbsp;She has worked with independent inventors, small and start-up companies, universities, research institutions, and large companies within and outside of the U.S. &nbsp;Marina’s intellectual property experience includes antibodies, therapeutic oligonucleotides, biomarkers, small molecules, vaccines, nano-/microparticles, immunoassays, and protein preparation.

Before beginning her legal career, Marina received her doctorate in Biomedical Sciences at the University of California, San Diego, focusing on ribosome-based gene therapy against HIV-2 and SIV.&nbsp; She also completed a post-doctoral fellowship at the Gladstone Institute of Virology and Immunology, focusing on basic HIV research involving the degradation and shuttling of certain viral proteins.
