Mayya Pak is an associate in the firm’s Boston office with significant international experience in trademark enforcement, brand protection and intellectual property disputes. She advises clients on protecting and enforcing trademarks, copyrights, designs and domain names across multiple jurisdictions, with particular experience coordinating complex matters in high-risk markets.
Before joining Merchant, Mayya led multi-jurisdictional enforcement initiatives for global companies, developing anti-counterfeiting strategies involving investigations, customs actions and administrative proceedings. Her work also encompassed trademark prosecution and clearance, unfair competition claims, IP transactions and software-related copyright issues.
Mayya’s background includes managing the legal department of a startup accelerator and advising emerging technology companies on licensing, trademark protection and copyright disputes. At Columbia Law School, where she earned her LL.M. with honors, Mayya served as a research assistant to Professor Jane Ginsburg, focusing on U.S. trademark law issues including genericism, abandonment, dilution and domain name disputes.
Mayya has held leadership roles within the International Trademark Association’s Enforcement Committee, including serving as chair of the General Trademark Enforcement Matters Subcommittee and co-chair of the Judicial Administration and Trademark Litigation Subcommittee. She currently serves on INTA’s Unfair Competition Committee as a member of its Emerging Technologies and Practices Working Group. World IP Review recognized her as a Trailblazer in its 2020 list of 100 Influential Women in IP.
Her cross-border perspective and practical understanding of enforcement strategy inform her approach to protecting clients’ brands in complex and evolving markets.
