Sean Kim is an associate in the firm’s New York office, where he draws on his background in biology, clinical research, and patent law. He brings a strong technical foundation to intellectual property disputes involving complex scientific and technological issues.
Before entering private practice, Sean worked in clinical research at Massachusetts General Hospital, where he coordinated studies involving inflammatory bowel disease therapies and tobacco-related health effects in collaboration with the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard. His research has contributed to peer-reviewed publications in inflammatory bowel disease and cancer biology.
Sean is also a registered patent agent and gained experience with patent prosecution before becoming an attorney, including assisting with claim amendments and drafting patent applications based on inventor disclosures. His combination of scientific research and patent experience helps him analyze technical issues, understand the innovations at the center of a dispute, and communicate effectively with inventors, experts, and legal teams.
Outside of work, he enjoys exploring New York’s restaurant scene, playing jazz piano, and trying new recipes.
