The Merchant & Gould Life Sciences Practice Group is committed to providing the highest quality intellectual property services encompassing chemistry, biotechnology, materials science and related disciplines. The Life Sciences Group currently serves clients with interests in diverse technologies and industries including pharmaceuticals, nutraceuticals, food, polymers, specialty chemicals, medical devices and diagnostics, sanitizing products, agricultural products, veterinary medicines, environmental remediation, petroleum products and processes, coatings, cosmetics, colors and dyes, monoclonal antibodies, genetic engineering, gene therapy, among others.

The attorneys in the The Life Sciences Group typically possess an undergraduate degree in chemistry, biochemistry, biology, genetics, chemical engineering or a similar scientific degree. Many of the attorneys have advanced degrees, including doctorates, in chemistry or biotechnology-related fields. A number of the attorneys have had substantial industry experience prior to their legal careers, while others have acquired experience in particular areas through years of representing clients.
