As Senior Counsel based in Merchant &amp; Gould's Washington D.C. Area office, Alex is a member of the Litigation Practice Group. His work encompasses all facets of patent litigation in U.S. district courts, the International Trade Commission (ITC), and the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). Alex provides practical advice on the intersection of district court, ITC, and post-grant proceedings at the USPTO. His caseload often involves high-stakes litigation paired with post-grant proceedings.

During law school, Alex served as a judicial extern for Judge Randall Rader of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and Magistrate Judge Bernard Zimmerman of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California. He has also lectured on ITC practice at the University of Washington's Center for Advanced Study and Research on Innovation Policy and to the Japanese Intellectual Property Association.

Merchant &amp; Gould welcomes Daniel J. Pereira, Ph.D., John S. Kern, Eric W. Schweibenz, and Donald R. McPhail, as Partners and Alexander B. Englehart, as Of Counsel in its Washington D.C. Area office. The new additions will expand Merchant &amp; Gould’s capabilities in handling International Trade Commission (ITC) cases, complex IP litigation, post-grant proceedings, patent prosecution, and strategic IP portfolio management, as well as increase its presence in Japan, China, Taiwan and Korea.
