Without vigilant financial oversight, even the most successful law firms can’t weather the tide of economic uncertainty. An accountant with a meticulous eye for every transaction provides a stronghold, bringing peace of mind to the entire team.

For over 15 years, Carrie Moullette has brought organizational structure and stability to where it matters most: the balance sheet. Her guidance and foresight create accountability in every department, ensuring fiscal responsibility in every corner of the organization.

Carrie’s expertise extends beyond crunching numbers. She understands the assimilation of fiscal values into an organization and the importance of bringing everybody on board to the concept of sound money management. For this reason, she has earned a reputation as a trusted accountant, capable of handling the most delicate budgetary matters.

Steadfast Through the Financial Storm

Carrie knows that creating firm equity is a long-term process. The end-game is calculated in years rather than days. She establishes and manages accounting protocols and processes that mitigate legal and monetary risks long before they happen. As such, her responsibilities at Merchant include:

  • Billing and accounts payable oversight
  • Payroll management
  • Expense and budget support
  • Financial analysis and planning support

Carrie sees her role as part of the bigger picture in helping the firm’s clients achieve their patent goals. Her ability to identify potential issues and solve problems allows her team to focus more on impending cases.

“It’s great to know we’re part of the team helping inventors bring their creations to the world. You feel like you’re doing something good and making an impact.”

Streamlining the Accounting Process

Carrie is passionate about creating processes that not only work but also make everyone’s job easier and more effective.

Her recent wins have included simplifying reporting processes, automating manual jobs and developing time-saving systems for working with vendors. Her approach is to improve things incrementally. Small steps over time turn into big wins for the accounting department, resonating throughout the organization.

She understands that change is constant but slow. Seeing issues from all angles allows her to implement ideas that have a lasting effect on how the engine runs.

“I work with our financial analyst and CFO to ensure accounting is running smoothly. That way, our attorneys and staff can properly support our clients, and we keep the company financially healthy.”
