As Director of Business Development &amp; Marketing, she leads the firm’s growth strategy across business development, marketing, branding, and public relations, helping to build and amplify the firm's national presence as a premier intellectual property law firm.

A collaborative partner and hands-on strategist, Misty blends big-picture vision with practical execution. She develops targeted initiatives that showcase the firm’s strengths while coaching attorneys to build authentic, sustainable business development practices. Her leadership helps ensure that both the firm and its attorneys thrive in a dynamic, competitive legal market.

Business Development Coach

In addition to leading firmwide marketing strategy, Misty provides one-on-one and group coaching to attorneys, helping them sharpen their business development skills, deepen client engagement, and pursue growth with confidence and purpose.

Creative Energy, On and Off the Clock

Outside of work, Misty enjoys creative projects, volunteering in her community, and spending time with her husband, daughter, and two dogs. She brings the same energy, curiosity, and creativity to her personal pursuits as she does to her professional role—always exploring new ideas, building connections, and finding meaningful ways to make an impact.

Merchant &amp; Gould is pleased to announce that <a href="/people/misty-a-borg-misterek/">Misty Borg Misterek</a> has been promoted to Director of Business Development &amp; Marketing, effective Jan. 1, 2022. While based in Minneapolis, she manages the firm’s business development, marketing, and public relations efforts firm-wide. 



“Misty has significant history with our firm, robust background in business development, a wealth of knowledge and experience in the legal field, and the right passion to tie it all together. We are excited about increasing her role and identifying new outreach opportunities during Merchant &amp; Gould’s next phase of growth,” said Christopher J. Leonard, Managing Director and CEO of Merchant &amp; Gould. 



With the firm since 2001, Misty has a deep dedication and plays a pivotal role in strategizing and implementing the firm’s business development practices. She’s continuously evaluating new growth areas and leading new-business initiatives to further support the firm’s development goals. As part of the leadership team, Misty dedicates her time to defining the strategic vision of the firm and executing that vision to maintain Merchant &amp; Gould’s position as a leading national intellectual property law firm. Misty’s breadth and depth of marketing experience aid in her ability to develop the strategy for all business endeavors.&nbsp;

Leading up to her promotion, Misty has been involved with several firm-wide committees, currently serving on the Diversity Committee and Marketing Committee. She is also affiliated with professional organizations, such as the Legal Marketing Association (LMA) where she currently co-chairs the Solo/Small Team Special Interest Group and the group’s Pre-Conference Program. In addition, Misty is a national member of the American Marketing Association and Association of Legal Administrators.
