Reid Morris is an Associate Attorney for Merchant &amp; Gould’s Minneapolis office. As an IP Litigation and Trademark Attorney, Reid splits his practice between patent litigation and assisting clients with trademark development and protection. Reid rejoined Merchant &amp; Gould after more than a decade away, first working with the firm as a summer associate in the Washington, D.C. office while he was a law student.

Reid’s primary focus at Merchant &amp; Gould is assisting clients with Hatch-Waxman litigation. He works closely with a talented group of attorneys representing primarily the generic drug industry in Abbreviated New Drug Application (ANDA) litigation.

His clients’ goals are to deliver less expensive generic drug products to the U.S. market. Reid enjoys representing ANDA clients with constant collaboration, detailed research, and high attention to detail.

With a teamwork-oriented approach, Reid enjoys doing his part to contribute to the big-picture goal. Within his litigation work, he works within a team with expansive expertise.

This team combines significant technical knowledge with time-sensitive litigation needs, all while providing effective communication with clients. Through this collaborative work, Reid enjoys the opportunity to expand his technical knowledge as he serves these clients.

For his trademark clients, his work includes crafting efficient and effective trademark protection strategies so they can focus on the things that make their businesses great.&nbsp; Reid enjoys his clients’ entrepreneurial mindset and being able to assist them with bringing their business concepts to life.

Within both facets of representation, Reid is constantly impressed by the creativity and ingenuity of the entrepreneurs and inventors he serves.&nbsp;

Born and raised in Iowa, Reid attended Iowa State University’s Ivy College of Business and earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing. Soon after, Reid was encouraged to explore the legal field by his older sister, a trial attorney in Washington, D.C.

Reid moved to Washington D.C. and set to work in D.C.’s broad legal industry, working in the District of Columbia Office of the Attorney General, the legal office of the National Center for Missing &amp; Exploited Children, and in the commercial litigation group of a large international law firm. This work confirmed his desire to pursue a law degree.&nbsp;

Reid earned his Juris Doctor from Howard University School of Law in Washington, D.C., where he focused on IP, particularly trademarks. He served as President of the Intellectual Property Students’ Association and undertook an internship with the Institute for Intellectual Property and Social Justice. During that time, Reid also interned at a small trademark boutique with a significant focus on trademark prosecution.

Before joining the team at Merchant &amp; Gould, Reid primarily served small and mid-sized businesses in trademark development and protection. He later expanded his practice to include commercial litigation.

Outside of work, Reid is a passionate cyclist, skier, and gardener. He and his wife can be found enjoying any of these activities with their twins.
